Stall(ed)

I'd recently setup a Warli paintings stall at one of the Maharashtra Mandal programs (14th Jan 2012). It was so much fun and was a great experience as well! I slogged for it for more than 80 hrs in 6 days! *whew*. My back hurt for like 3 days and nothing helped! Nevertheless the pleasure of creating some beautiful stuff was out of this world! I got the raw material like wooden photo frames, paints, etc from my favorite store...Michaels ofcrs. I made about 30 bookmarks and painted on 6 photoframes,5 mugs,1 mirror frame,5 small canvas and 3 canvas bags! I had also put up some of my earlier work for display! Here are the pics from the exibit!
The photo frames:-
The Canvas:-
The Canvas Bags:-
The Bookmarks:-
The Mirror Frame:-
The Coffee Mugs:-
These were all the items I had at the stall.....*whew* My earlier work was only for display for later orders. I have been working on some orders since then! More pouring in! :) Wish me luck!

Baked!

I had heard a lot about these cake decorating classes at Michaels since a long time! One of my friends had taken them as well and her cakes looked and tasted delicious! So now the foodie and the artist in me didn't let me rest and I decided to take up Cake Decoration this winter!! Yay! Believe me, it's a lot tough than it looks! Hell lot of work goes in baking, making buttercream, preparing different kinds of decorations and then putting them all together! *whew* Nevertheless I totally enjoyed all the 3 courses...and I'm so excited for the last one which is in April!
My first course was simple buttercream icing decoration. I esp. enjoyed making the icing...though cleaning my kitchen countertops was such a pain! But the end result is worth all the trouble! Here are the pics from my first course...
Now that we are done with my 1st course let's move on to the 2nd...My 2nd course was decorating with Royal icing! (you must be wondering why am I not revealing the ingredients of the icings...but I guess that's a trade secret! ;) Anyway royal icing doesnot contain any butter/shortening...so it becomes hard and is great for making lilies and many small flowers. So now here is my second course pic...there was just one final project and that happened to be our 3rd anniversary cake. I've topped the cake with yellow lillies and made a basket weave design around the cake!
Now the next course was gum paste and fondant cake decoration...fondant is a kind of sugary clay kind of stuff...you just roll it out like a chapati/tortilla and cover the cake up with it! The most difficult part about the cake was making the decoration...I chose making roses and that was such a pain...but the final result was super fine! Anyway...here's the cake for you guys!
My last project was just the way I imagined it should have been! The roses were just right and the cake was yum! I'm so very excited for my last course!!

*Click*

We recently bought a Nikon D3100 and I've been carrying it almost everywhere I go! I can't say I have a good eye for photography but hey! I certainly have a better eye for colours! (if that helps)...I'm still exploring the many options/settings/modes in the camera...I guess I need to give it some time! Anyway for now I have a few good pics to share I might as well do it!

The above picture was taken at the White Rock Lake in Dallas,Texas. It's always been my favorite place in Dallas. I'm not a big fan of sunsets but this place makes me think twice!

Yes I know that I need to improve a lot at it! I hope I do soon!
